Brian Collins

EXPERIENCE

Brian has more than 20 years of commercial and governmental risk experience. A former combat-decorated infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, his passion is working with executives in times of change, challenge, and crisis, as well as helping leaders capitalize on emerging trends. Prior to Brian’s arrival, he led the crisis management practice for a boutique New York City-based consulting and technology firm acquired by BDO in 2019. 

Brian is an expert in integrating military models, cognitive science, design thinking, and game theory with industry risk management standards to create new ways of understanding the disciplines of crisis management, enterprise risk management, and business continuity.

Brian has published on the topics of leadership, strategy, and political/economic risk in Joint Force Quarterly, War on the Rocks, Marine Corps Gazette, and Small Wars Journal.  He has also chaired panels and lectured for audiences as diverse as the Western Economic Association International (WEAI) and ESCP Europe Business School, as well as provided briefings to the US Congress through special commission.

INDUSTRY FOCUS

In the private sector, Brian has extensive experience working with partners in the energy, financials, health, industrials, and nonprofit industries. In the public sector, he has worked widely with leadership within intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), as well as the highest level of US government with General/Flag Officers, Assistant Cabinet Secretaries, and Ambassadors.
