Why did your company decide to sponsor FEI Tampa Bay Chapter?

We believe that the Tampa Chapter of FEI provides an outstanding forum for practitioners to augment their professional education through an innovative program schedule, interaction with their peers, and exposure to a variety of enterprises in Tampa Bay.

What are you looking forward to most about being involved in FEI Tampa Bay?

I’m looking forward to working once again with old friends and colleagues and sharing the journey we are all on in our professional careers.

How does your company provide value to finance executives in the Tampa Bay area?

G2 offers under one umbrella a full range of financial and operational restructuring services. As well as investment banking, where we are active in buy side and sell side M&A – primarily in the middle market.

Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.

I have been very fortunate. I began my career after business school in Boston working for major corporations including Xerox and United Technologies. Over the years, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time in four industries: construction, specialty chemicals, telecommunications, and consumer durables. I’ve served as a CFO, COO, or CEO in public and private companies and spent 10 years as the CFO and interim CEO of Lazydays right here in Seffner. I’ve worked hard but have also been blessed to have some great opportunities.

What do you love most about working with finance professionals?

It’s all about the data. I’ve always believed, and for the most part been proved correct, that if the question is correctly described, the answer and the path forward becomes a lot more apparent.

Do you think it takes a certain kind of personality to thrive in your field? What traits are most important?

Be resilient. There are always things that are not going to go according to plan. Don’t let that throw you. Never, never, never give up. And, after you’ve had some time in the field, trust your gut.

What are some activities you participate in to advance the profession or your career?

Organizations like FEI, and these days meeting with all sorts of folks to try to understand how we can be helpful.

What are some of your personal hobbies outside of work?

I read obsessively and enjoy sailing a lot.

What’s the best thing in your life?

My wife, my family, our friends, and especially our kids in Los Angeles, Florida, and the U.K., as well as our four grandkids in the U.K.
