What are you looking forward to most about being involved in FEI Tampa Bay?
I’m most looking forward to building relationships with other finance professionals in the Tampa Bay community. I also see FEI Tampa Bay as a great opportunity to become more involved in the local business community and connect with people who are helping shape the future of Tampa Bay.
How does your company provide value to finance executives in the Tampa Bay area?
USI helps finance executives take a more strategic approach to
risk, insurance, employee benefits, and cost management—areas that can significantly impact the P&L and balance sheet.
Through data, analytics, benchmarking, and specialized expertise, we help organizations evaluate their total cost of risk, identify opportunities to
reduce costs, improve coverage, manage volatility, and create greater transparency around insurance and benefits spending.
Ultimately, we help CFOs make better-informed decisions and align their risk and benefits strategies with the organization’s broader financial and business objectives.
Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up in Gainesville and graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Finance, I always had an interest in business and a focus on the numbers. My college internships led me straight into an employee benefits consulting role at Brown & Brown on the east coast of Florida after graduating. I later relocated to Tampa in 2022 where I joined the USI Insurance team. After nearly a decade in this industry, I have had the opportunity to work closely with business owners, CFOs, HR leaders and other executives from a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, staffing, marketing, finance, healthcare, and IT. The most rewarding part of my career are the long-term relationships I’ve developed with the people behind those businesses along the way.
Do you think it takes a certain kind of personality to thrive in your field? What traits are most important?
Absolutely. I think curiosity, resilience and the ability to build genuine relationships are especially important. Employee benefits is a complex industry, and every organization has different challenges, so you have to be willing to ask good questions, listen and continually learn. At the same time, success in this business is built on trust, so being authentic and following through on your commitments is just as important as technical knowledge.
What are some of your personal hobbies outside of work?
Outside of work, I’m either cheering on my Florida Gators during football season, getting out on the water (boating and fishing), or watching a concert or comedy show in the Tampa area.
