Q: Tell us a little bit about your company, its history, and its service offerings.

Since 2004, Hartman Executive Advisors has served as an independent technology leadership firm, working with mid-market executives to align IT solutions with business goals and strategy.

Dave and Marie Hartman founded Hartman Executive Advisors based on a gap they saw in the marketplace 18 years ago. While large companies had plenty of unbiased, outside advisors, it was the opposite for midmarket CEOs, especially when it came to technology. Dave and Marie's goal was to demonstrate to mid-market CEOs how a strategic approach to technology could improve their business operations.

Today, Hartman serves more than nine industries in over 25 states. The company does not sell or profit from any technology solution or vendor, so clients know the advice they receive to help them achieve their business goals is always in their best interest. Our team of independent executive advisors provides middle market organizations with the best in both business and technology strategy. More than that, our CIOs are committed to delivering the sound advice you’ve come to rely on and expect from your closest business associates and peers. Working alongside executive teams, we create financial, regulatory and leadership success with and for our clients.

Q: How do your services/solutions help finance executives?

Our executive clients rely on Hartman as a trusted advisor to help them make key IT decisions, including:
  • Creating a business aligned technology strategy and governance
  • Software selection and implementation
  • IT vendor selection and management
  • Cyber strategy and prioritization
  • Business intelligence and data analytics
  • IT Hiring and staffing decisions/ IT mentoring
  • IT move strategy and planning

Q: What does your company do differently or better than your competitors?

Hartman Executive Advisors is the region's only completely independent technology advisory firm. Unlike other firms that offer IT guidance, Hartman does not sell or profit from any technology solution, so clients know the recommendations they receive are always in their best interest. Hartman’s advisors are fellow executives who listen to concerns and keep confidences.

The company’s co-sourced model differs greatly from traditional IT outsourcing. Rather than simply passing off the function, co-sourcing brings a more strategic focus and a new level of accountability to an organization. Business leaders engage Hartman to augment their own internal capabilities, benefit from an advisor’s specialized skills and experience, and eventually, to be able to transfer that knowledge to rising leaders.

By developing a deep understanding of the business challenges that arise from misaligned technology, and by uncovering the opportunities that result from strategically aligned technology, Hartman sets the path to advance, cultivate and leverage people, processes, and systems to change and transform organizations.

Q: In what ways is your company giving back to the Baltimore community?

Hartman fosters a philanthropic culture, encouraging employees to give back to the community through various volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Hartman employees have volunteered for many local nonprofits, including Baltimore Hunger Project, Project Homeless Connect, Maryland Food Bank and Salvation Army. In addition, Dave and Marie Hartman are actively involved with Baltimore’s Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, where Dave is a Leadership Advisory Council member and together, they have chaired and sponsored the annual Stand Up for Students fundraising event.

Q: What is one thing you wish people knew about your company?

Although we were “born” in the Baltimore area, we have clients in over 20 states. Even with our growth outside of the Mid-Atlantic, we are passionate about the growth and development of Baltimore. Go Ravens and O’s!!!!
