Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.

I have been in public accounting for most of my professional career. My accounting career began at a small CPA firm that gave me an excellent hands-on experience in a variety of industries and accounting and consulting tasks. I then worked at a couple of large national CPA firms and have been with CLA, which is a national professional services firm, for approximately seven years now.

Over the years, I have worked with companies and organizations of various sizes in diverse industries. Some time in my career, I started to lean toward domestic and international privately-held businesses in manufacturing, distribution, and technology – possibly because of my college experience. I graduated as an engineer from a college abroad and, then, operated my own business with two of my high school buddies.

I have always been fortunate to work with great, dedicated and hardworking people who helped me to grow professionally – from the time I worked in the back office of a local Home Depot, while newly arrived in the U.S. and attending business school, to presently working at CLA. I greatly respect my CLA colleagues here in Baltimore and around the country who are true experts in what they do.

What is your best networking tip?

Be intentional and be personal.

Why does your company sponsor FEI Baltimore Chapter?

It is a great opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the business community in Maryland and the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area, to stay connected with business leaders, and to learn from these leaders and their businesses.

What are some activities you participate in to advance the profession or your career?

The most important activities for me are staying on top of current professional developments and staying connected with my clients and the business community in general.

What are some of your personal hobbies outside of work?

I enjoy various activities with my family, whether it is hiking, skiing or just having dinner together by our firepit in our backyard. I am looking forward to the post-COVID time with less restrictive travel opportunities in the U.S. and internationally.
