Russell leads our State and Local tax practice and has more than 40 years of state and federal tax experience, including serving clients in recent years as a state and local tax partner with a Big 4 firm. He has worked with many public and privately owned companies on state income / franchise tax compliance, consulting, controversy and tax provision matters for both attest and non-attest clients. He has significant experience working with clients on corporate restructuring and planning strategies to adopt to the constantly evolving multistate income tax statutes and regulations, reduce state taxes and lower effective tax rates. Russell’s experience includes six years in a senior tax executive position with a Fortune 500 company where he was responsible for the federal and state tax reporting and compliance, federal and state tax audits, and the consolidated income tax provision. He has served clients in several industries, including manufacturing, technology, financial services, real estate, and energy, entertainment and retail.
Russell has a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
