Implications of Affordable Care Act for Private Companies

by FEI Daily Staff

Implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as “Obamacare,” continues in 2016 with new requirements that will affect thousands of private companies.

This year, for example, employers with 50 or more employees must provide health insurance to at least 95 percent of their full-time employees. Employers will be required to comply with reporting requirements to demonstrate to the Internal Revenue Service they are meeting ACA mandates, and failure to comply will result in costly penalties.

To help financial executives at private companies better understand the law’s mandates and enhance their ACA compliance efforts, Financial Executives International has teamed with PricewaterhouseCoopers to offer a webinar on the implications of the ACA for private companies. The webinar features experts who will discuss the specific requirements employers must meet in 2016, the primary compliance challenges facing companies, and key strategies available to private companies to meet those challenges while providing cost effective health care coverage to employees.

Presenters include Amy Bergner, Managing Director in PwC’s People & Organizations Practice. Bergner is a nationally recognized expert on the ACA with extensive experience in helping employers, insurers and other stakeholders understand the impact of the ACA on their organizations and develop and execute compliance plans.

Bergner will be joined by Catherine E. Livingston, a partner at Jones Day and a leading authority on the tax provisions and implications of the ACA. Before joining Jones Day, Livingston served as Health Care Counsel in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel, where she was the principal legal advisor to senior IRS leadership on all aspects of the ACA.

Participants will also hear from Nicole Gear, Vice-President of Organizational Development at the Foth Companies. Gear leads Foth’s benefits team and will share her perspective on how her company has worked to meet the ACA requirements in a way that works for both employees and the company.

If you have questions about what your company must do to meet ACA compliance requirements in 2016 or if you need to develop a strategy for meeting those requirements in the most cost-effective way, the Private Company Roundtable webinar sponsored by PWC on the implications of the Affordable Care Act is something you can’t afford to miss.
