Understanding ASC 842: Leases
Financial Executives International, October 15, 2019
On July 17th the FASB approved a proposed rule that would extend the deadline for private companies to adopt ASC 842: Leases. The reasons behind the extension center around whether private companies have the capacity to adopt the new lease standard on the heels of the changes in revenue recognition. What now? Private companies should:
  • Understand the new lease standard
  • Begin or continue the adoption effort
  • Establish bottom-line changes under the new standard
  • Educate investors and lenders on coming changes
  • Adjust agreements with investors and lenders
The presentation will give some brief background on the standard and the recent developments, then focus on helping attendees understand how to apply it through case studies.
