The 83rd Texas Legislature in Review

 
State Senator Jane Nelson, businesswoman and former schoolteacher, represents District 12, which includes portions of Tarrant and Denton counties.
Senator Nelson, the first woman in Texas legislative history to chair a standing budge-writing committee, serves as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, which shapes the state budget and crafts fiscal policy for Texas.
The 83rd Regular Session of the Texas Legislature passed 1,437 bills into law. The session was noted for cooperation and progress on several priorities, including public education, health care and the Texas economy.
Senator Nelson will review the highlights of the legislative session, focusing on the impact to Fort Worth and Tarrant County.
