FASB Proposes Delays for Accounting Standards

The FASB voted yesterday to propose to delay some of its major accounting standards — including credit losses, leases, hedging and long-duration insurance contracts — for private companies, nonprofits and small reporting companies. On CECL, the proposal would push back the dates for all other public business entities from January 2021 to January 2023, and for private companies and nonprofits from January 2022 to January 2023.

The investigation is set to examine whether Amazon's use of data from the independent retailers that sell on its marketplace is in breach of EU competition rules. Amazon could be fined as much as $23 billion if it broke laws.
