John Merino

John Merino is Corporate Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer for FedEx Corporation since 2004. He is the primary executive responsible for the company’s consolidated financial statements, external financial reporting, and accounting due diligence on corporate acquisitions. He is also responsible for the Corporation’s financial shared services organization and the design and implementation of global financial systems, processes and accounting policies throughout the Corporation.

Mr. Merino is responsible for the Corporation’s retirement plans management and administration and is a member of the Company’s Retirement Plans Investment Board. He is also a member of the Company’s Benefits Strategy Board which sets strategy and design parameters for the enterprise’s health and welfare programs covering over 400,000 members.

Mr. Merino also has global responsibility for the Corporation’s strategic sourcing organizations that manage spend of over $20 billion across the enterprise.

Mr. Merino was Staff Vice President and Corporate Controller from 2000 to 2004 and Staff Director Corporate Reporting and Analysis from 1998 to 2000. Before joining FedEx, Mr. Merino worked for Ernst & Young LLP in Northeast Ohio for 13 years.

A native of Stow, Ohio, Mr. Merino received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Akron. He is active in the Memphis community serving on the advisory board for the School of Accountancy of the University of Memphis and supporting local institutions such as the Memphis Cultural Arts Enrichment Center, the Animal Protection Association and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
