Rolf Harms

As General Manager Corporate Strategy Cloud & AI, Rolf Harms leads a team that supports Microsoft’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT), with a focus on the Cloud strategy, and transformational and disruptive opportunities.

 

Prior to Azure’s launch in 2008, he led a team that developed the initial business case for cloud. He penned a number of internal strategy memos for the SLT and the Board of Directors, articulating the imperative of move to the cloud including “The Economics of the Cloud” arguing that public cloud will drive a fundamental disruption in enterprise IT. Subsequently Mr. Harms worked for Satya on charting the course of Microsoft’s transformation to a cloud first-business. More recently, Mr. Harms has been focused on the opportunity of ‘Digital Transformation’, democratizing ‘Digital’ so that every organization can build their own Digital Feedback Loop.

 

 

Prior to joining Microsoft, Mr. Harms spent 7 years in Silicon Valley. He worked at SAP in the Palo Alto office for 3 years and was responsible for crafting SAP’s R&D globalization strategy. Prior to SAP, Mr. Harms worked at startups in the bay area and in strategy consulting at Mitchell Madison Group in New York City. Mr. Harms received a Masters degree in Economics at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and an MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
