John Toriello

John Toriello is a Managing Director in the Finance Group and is the Head of Accounting Strategy and Policy for the firm. Mr. Toriello oversees the accounting policy function for Blackstone, and provides strategic accounting support to Blackstone’s business units and portfolio companies on accounting for new and complex products and transactions. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Toriello was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he provided transaction strategy and execution advice to private equity firms and their portfolio investments. Mr. Toriello was also a member of PwC’s National office where he specialized in the accounting for Financial Instruments. In this role, Mr. Toriello functioned primarily in a risk management capacity for the firm, and frequently interacted with standard setters and regulators. Mr. Toriello received a BS in Business and Economics from Lehigh University and is a certified public accountant in the state of New York. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey chapter of the Council for Economic Education, the leading non-profit organization in the United States focusing on personal finance and economic education for students K-12, providing them the essential tools to create financial stability and opportunity for themselves, their families and their communities.
