Ms. Carol Cain

Carol was first drawn to the National WASP WWII Museum, serving as a volunteer.  She was elected to its Board of Directors, serving as president for three years before becoming Museum Administrator in November 2012.  She now serves as the museum’s Associate Director.  Carol considers it a privilege to share the story and preserve the history of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) who were the first women to fly America’s military aircraft and who forever changed the role of women in aviation.

Carol is a native of Austin, TX and attended University of Texas for two years before she was drawn toward adventure and flight with Braniff Airlines in Dallas TX where she worked as a flight attendant.  She also worked for the Abilene Reporter News, as an illustrator and sales rep.  She lived in Houston for 43 years, and since 2003 has lived in Sweetwater, TX.  She has served in leadership roles on numerous other boards and committees of charitable, religious, civic, and philanthropic organizations in both Houston and Sweetwater including Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Jr Forum, Sweetwater County/City Library Board, and others.  Carol has been married since 1962 to her husband John Paul Cain, who retired as a stockbroker and played on the senior PGA tour for 13 years, winning 3 tournaments. She has two daughters and two very exceptional grand-daughters, one rescue dog and four stray cats.
