Laura Newinski

Laura Newinski is Vice Chair of Operations for KPMG LLP, where she is responsible for technology, including digital transformation, the data strategy, technology operations and security as well as financial matters encompassing forecasting, planning, and monitoring the execution of the firm’s financial performance. In addition, she oversees KPMG operations areas such as pension investments, real estate, office operations and internal audit. A member of the KPMG U.S. Management Committee, she also serves as Chief Operating Officer for KPMG’s Americas region, helping to ensure KPMG’s international network of member firms effectively deliver services to clients in North, Central and South America. During her 30-year career, she has had extensive experience serving multinational Fortune 500 companies, and led multi-disciplinary client-service teams across the U.S. and globally. Through her work, Ms. Newinski is recognized for her knowledge and insight on operational, tax and performance development strategies.

 

Ms. Newinski drives operational excellence across KPMG’s team of 30,000-plus professionals through a focus on integrating the firm’s businesses, and delivering innovative, high-value services. As a result of her leadership, KPMG is achieving substantial improvements in productivity, cost-efficiency and client service delivery.

 

Prior to her current role, Ms. Newinski served as the National Managing Partner of Tax for KPMG where she oversaw a team of 6,000 partners and professionals and led a $2 billion-plus business. Her responsibilities spanned all tax disciplines including federal, international, state and local, as well as economic and valuation services, mergers and acquisitions, and global mobility services. Previous roles included serving as West Regional Managing Partner for KPMG’s Tax practice where she led the region to significant business growth, enhanced teaming and integration, and introduced innovative professional development programs that were implemented nationally. Ms. Newinski also served as the Tax partner in charge for KPMG’s offices in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska.

 

Ms. Newinski joined KPMG in 1988 and was named to the partnership in 1997. Over the course of her career, she has focused largely on serving publicly held and private companies in the financial services and food and beverage sectors, including Wells Fargo, Land o’ Lakes and Cargill. Deeply committed to supporting KPMG’s focus on inclusion and diversity, Ms. Newinski is the former chair of the KPMG Network of Women (KNOW) and a frequent speaker in external and internal forums on creating and cultivating an inclusive culture.
