Having enjoyed a great career as a CFO at both Fortune 500 and middle-market companies, Tom’s proudest accomplishments are the people he has helped develop and the teams he has built. He can boast that eight of his former team members have become CFOs themselves. Through TLGarrett Consulting and Coaching LLC, Tom provides strategic business advisory, CFO services and executive coaching, and is a John Maxwell Certified Coach. His consulting and coaching services tap into his years of real world experience to benefit executives who wish to advance their companies’ and their personal performance. Those who get to know Tom quickly come to value his experience, wit, wisdom, and advice. Tom is currently serving his client, Alen Corporation, as CFO, and serves on three advisory boards for Alen, inbanx, and EPSoft Technologies. He is also a board member for Celebration Church and 4Points Kids, a Christian foster placement non-profit.
Tom's career foundation was built during his sixteen years with Goodyear – a multinational $9 billion publicly traded company. During his tenure there, he progressed through accounting, treasury, corporate finance, and M&A activities. When he was recruited from Goodyear by Magma Copper, he had completed over $20 billion in financings and was responsible for global banking and investment banking relationships. Tom has worked across eight industries at companies ranging from Fortune 500 to lower-middle market in size; from high growth to financial distress; publicly traded, PE and privately owned. Industries have included retail, media, banking, mining, business process outsourcing, financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing. His consulting practice to date has included SaaS, fintech, online retail, and manufacturing.
In his free time, Tom loves spending time with his family, reading, movies, riding his motorcycle on country roads, and driving his convertible.
