FEI Calls on Congress to Enact Tax Parity and Comprehensive Tax Reform

Financial Executives International has joined a coalition of leading business organizations to call on Congress to restore tax rate parity for all U.S. businesses.

In a letter to the Republican and Democratic leaders of Congress’s tax-writing committees, the House Ways & Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee, Parity for Main Street Employers urged lawmakers to enact tax reform that is comprehensive, restores tax rate parity for all businesses, and reduces or eliminates the double tax imposed on corporations.

The letter closes, “By embracing these broad concepts, Congress can move the taxation of business income in a direction that helps all employers, regardless of how they are organized, to invest and create jobs here in America.” Click here (PDF) to read the complete letter.

Parity for Main Street Employers represents more than 100 national business groups, including FEI, representing millions of Main Street employers. The coalition’s Steering Committee includes eight national trade groups – American Council of Engineering Companies, American Institute of Architects, Associated Builders and Contractors, Associated General Contractors of America, Independent Community Bankers of America, National Beer Wholesalers Association, National Roofing Contractors Association, S Corporation Association, and National Association of Wholesalers. The letter reflects the three principles the coalition believes tax reform should follow – comprehensive, restore rate parity, and reduce or eliminate the corporate double tax.

Working with coalitions of like-minded business groups is just one way FEI communicates the need for tax reform with Congress. FEI’s private company members will be meeting face-to-face on Capitol Hill with key Congressman and their staff on April 19 to discuss the need for a more equitable treatment of pass-through entities in comprehensive tax reform.

FEI’s private company members are encouraged to take part in this year’s Congressional Fly-in. To learn more about the event and to register, please go here.
