Our guest, Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jim Rooney, formerly served as executive director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority, which oversees the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston’s Back Bay, the 1,350-space Boston Common Parking Garage, and the MassMutual Center in Springfield, a combined convention center and 6,000-seat arena.
Rooney has been honored with numerous local and industry awards including the Skyline Award by the Massachusetts Building Congress, and named to the Boston Business Journal’s list of the 50 Most Influential Bostonians. He was twice named to Tradeshow Week’s Power Pack as one of the top 10 convention center leaders in North America, and was also named Distinguished Public Administrator by the Massachusetts chapter of the American Society for Public Administration. In a recent profile, the Boston Globe called Rooney “one of the state’s most influential public figures.”
